Sandy met her spouse, Karl Nelson, in high school marching band and has been married for 47 years. Sandy and Karl have two children--a professional firefighter/paramedic (married to a former volunteer firefighter/trained paramedic), and an accupuncturist/massage therapist (married to a respiratory therapist). They have four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
